Dundonald Castle Excavations 2022

After a few years break, we are excited to announce that we are going to be carrying out more castle excavations from Fri 23rd-Fri 30th of September this year!

We are carrying out these excavations with support from Historic Environment Scotland and CFA Archaeology who have helped run the archaeological investigations in 2018 and 2019.

However, we need your help! If you are interested in volunteering, we will be running two sessions every day for the duration of the dates mentioned above. The sessions will run from 930am-1230pm and 1pm-4.30pm

No experience is required and we will supply all tools (although if you have your own please feel free to bring them along). It should also be noted that we have other volunteering opportunities that do not require you to do any digging during these investigations!

If you are interested in volunteering for these excavations, please let me know by contacting us at archaeology@dundonaldcastle.org.uk and stating what sessions you would be interested in volunteering for. You can choose to do the morning session, afternoon session, or both.

Available Sessions:
Fri 23rd – Morning/Afternoon

Sun 25th – Morning Only
Tues 27th – Morning/Afternoon
