This is a precautionary measure while Historic Environment Scotland investigate potential safety risks from high level masonry.

Sample surveys are due to be carried out at the castle in early August.
At this stage, we don’t yet know when the castle will reopen – but will post any updates on our website and social media.

You are still more than welcome to walk up Dundonald Castle Hill and enjoy the spectacular views.

Our Visitor Centre is also open daily with small coffee shop and museum.

If you have any questions, queries or feedback, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via messenger or info@dundonaldcastle.org.uk

Although Dundonald Castle remains temporarily closed, our museum (situated in the Visitor Centre) is open daily 11am-4pm.

Join Tour Guide Dave, on a Friday to find out more about the 3500 year history at Dundonald Castle and some of the interesting characters associated with it!

Our museum is fully-accessible and this tour is suitable for the whole family.

Tickets are FREE, however, we would be grateful for any donations gifted which go towards the running of our small community charity. Click the image below to book!
